Milk rice : a traditonal sri lankan food

 Kiribath also known as milk rice is a traditional sri Lankan food. Commonly, it is served for breakfast. It can be also seen as a rice pudding.  Kiribath(milk rice) is served in every auspicious moments in sri Lanka. Just like for a new year, every 1st day of a month and any happy moments throughout lifetime. By the way, why is it called as milk rice? It is because this traditional rice is cooked with coconut milk. Also, it is simple and easy to prepare. It may take approximately 15 minutes for this easy recipe. You will need, White rice 250g 2 cups of water 1 cup of coconut milk 1 teaspoon salt Clean and wash the rice Add 2 cups of water and start to cook. Mum vs maid! Who knows kids better?

 Sad reality of today's generation is that most of the parents are busy with their jobs leaving kids behind the care of the maids. Although it's hard to live without working in present day, it is appreciated for mothers to spend even a little time with their children. A short video I came across today really melted my heart. It was a short interview with mum and maids, about who knows the kids better. Mum doesn't know the favourite subject of her own kid, but the maid knows. She didn't knew the name of her childs best friend. But the maid did. Child wakes up from a nightmare and cries for her nanny, not her mom. It's really heartbreaking when your mother isn't the person you can go to when you get scared. And the mum says, her daughter doesn't wake up, but just screams and cries.
